Make sure that everyone on staff is aware of the locations of first aid kits and emergency medical supplies, and that all dining room and kitchen staff know how to perform the Heimlich maneuver.
Post emergency phone numbers clearly. This should include fire department, poison control, and police department.
Review emergency procedures. This should include proper evacuation procedures in the event of a fire or other emergencies. Fire drills are crucial to ensuring that your staff members know how to get themselves, and your restaurant patrons out of the building safely.
Keep floor areas well lit and clean and free of slippery substances and obstacles that may cause slipping, falling, or tripping.
Remember, regular cleaning of floors and surfaces is the best way to keep your kitchen and work preapration areas hygienic and hazard free.
