Eco friendly, also known as environmentally friendly or green cleaning, is designed to help the environment, and be better for your health as well. This is because eco friendly cleaning products are typically made with all-natural ingredients as opposed to harsh chemicals. Even the containers that hold the products are often made with recycled materials.
Eco-friendly cleaning practices can be implemented just by following few simple steps in your office and your home.
- Store all household poisons in a separate cabinet. Insect killers, oven cleaners, and even some floor waxing products contain ingredients that are extremely harmful to humans. Not to mention, if these containers leak or break open, the contents could mix with other cleaning products, leading to the creation of toxic chemical gasses.
- Implement an office and/or home recycling program, and use it. We’ve mentioned the importance of an office and/or home recycling program before on this blog, but it really can’t be stressed enough. Recycling helps to conserve natural resources and energy, and takes only minutes-or seconds each day.
- Think reusable. This means not only paper products, but also mop heads and sponges. A mop head made out of natural fibers is much more environmentally friendly than a mop with a plastic cleaning pad at the end of it. Natural mop heads and sponges last longer too, which saves you money.
